Innovative Gourmet Teabags

Innovative Teabags from Boston Tea CampaignBoston Tea Campaign specializes in Darjeeling Tea. Most of our teas are loose leaf.

Many of our customers have repeatedly asked for teabags – to take our Darjeeling tea to the office or on a trip. Teabags are simply more convenient when you don’t have the time or the equipment to prepare loose tea.

We are not in favor of the typical teabags you find everywhere: they are too small to let tea leaves expand; most of them contain inferior tea (so-called “fannings”).

Therefore, we have adopted a new teabag design. It is different from all other teabags:

  • It contains 100% Pure Darjeeling Black Tea, Certified Organic!
  • It contains loose leaf tea – the same type you find in our large packages.
  • It contains twice as much tea as a conventional teabag.
  • It is much larger than a conventional teabag. It lets the tea leaves expand.
  • It is made of a unique mesh-like material.
  • It has a unique cardboard handle for use in cups and pots.
  • Each teabag is individually sealed to assure maximum freshness.

One teabag contains enough tea for a large mug or a pot (4 cups). Just pour boiling water over the teabag and steep for three minutes. The tea has an excellent light flowery flavor. Try it!

Tea and Health

A wealth of evidence suggests that drinking tea is beneficial to health:

  • Protection against cardiovascular disease;
  • Prevention of heart disease and stroke;
  • Protection against many types of cancer e.g. skin tumors, lung cancer, and digestive cancer;
  • Inhibitory effects on DNA synthesis of leukemia cells and lung carcinoma cells;
  • Lowering of bad cholesterol;
  • Improvements in blood vessel function;
  • Anti-inflammatory effects;
  • Antibacterial effects;
  • Rheumatoid arthritis prevention and relief;
  • Inhibitory effects on dental caries.

Tea plants are among the plants with the highest total flavonoid content. 93% of total tea phenolic compounds are flavonoids. Green tea contains more simple flavonoids (called catechins), while black tea contains more complex varieties (called theflavins and thearubigins). The longer tea is left to brew, the higher the concentration of flavonoids.

For many years, it has been known that tea plant polyphenols are antioxidant. In fact, many common flavonoids are several times more potent than Vitamin C or E 12, 13. Growing interest in the antioxidant activity of phenolic compounds has led to increased research into potential health benefits.
